This series was created as the artist healed from a broken jaw and elbow.
All clays and glazes used in these pieces were formulated by the artist.
Grail. 2014; clay, resin, artist’s saliva; 5” x 3” x 3”.
In antiquity, saliva was believed to have healing properties – while, in medieval times, the chalice called the Holy Grail was believed to have regenerative powers. This piece examines the historical tendency of human beings to hold ideas or objects sacred, and create vessels as an expression of their desire to preserve them.
Shroud. 2014; silk, the artist's hair, dried flowers, tyvec, ceramic; 7' x 2'.
Shroud is an analysis of mourning and trapped essence.
Memorial (2,977). 2014; clay, dried flowers; 4’2” x 2’5” x 2’2”.
This sculpture is an investigation of mourning and memorial practices. In many cultures, the mountain or hill are considered to be meeting places between earth and the afterlife. The clay used in this piece was formulated by the artist.

Preserving Severed Parts. 2014; clay, artist's hair and nails; 0'3" x 0'10" x 0'3".
Starting in December 2013, the artist has been collecting all hair brushed from her head and all of her nail pairings. The vessels were made in January 2014, and the collection will continue indefinitely. All clay and glazes used in this piece were formulated by the artist.
Eztli: Life Water. 2013; clay, wood, water; 4’ x 2’6” x 2’6”.
This piece is an interpretation of Aztec sacrificial rituals. The bowl sitting on the pedestal contains water and a heart; the water serves as a representation of blood, “eztli” or “life water”. All clay and glazes used in this piece were formulated by the artist.

Untitled. 2014; maxi pad, silk flowers, artist's hair and blood; 0'1.5" x 1'0" x 0'6".
This found object piece was made using only materials found on top of the artist's chest of drawers. Using nail clippers found on the site, the artist clipped her cuticles to apply blood to the maxi pad. This work acts as a symbol of woman as the creator of life.

This piece utilizes symbols such as nails, binding ropes, and dead flowers to represent unity in mortality. All clay and glazes used in this piece were formulated by the artist.
